Henry (Harry) Power, alias Johnson — escaped from Pentridge Stockade in February 1869 — is the suspected bushranger behind the armed bail-up of the Beechworth-Buckland coach at Bowman's Forest Gap on 28 August 1869. Chief Secretary John A. Macpherson offers a 300-pound Government reward for information leading to his arrest and conviction, superseding and cancelling the earlier 7 September notice. Power, the mentor of the young Ned Kelly, was one of north-eastern Victoria's most notorious highwaymen.
